The Presidential Council of the International Road Transport Union (IRU) was held in İstanbul on the 21st and 22nd of June, 2012.
A dinner was held by TOBB with the attendance of the TOBB Board Vice President Halim Mete on the 21st of June for the members of the Presidential Council. High level IRU directors, Presidential Council members and TOBB TIR Committee members came together and stated that cooperation between countries must increase, transport and trade must develop and costs need to be lowered.

The Presidential Council is comprised of 11 members selected from among IRU member institutions’ high level representatives. TOBB TIR Committee Member İzzet Salah is representing TOBB and Turkey in the IRU Presidential Council.
