“Professional Driving Profession Panel” was held on 21.12.2021 hosted by the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB). TOBB, Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure and TSOF jointly gave the opening speeches of the panel, TOBB Vice President Tamer Kıran stated that the recent crisis in professional driver employment can be overcome through complementary and renewed training together with improving the treatment and working conditions of drivers.
In his speech, Murat
Baştor, Director General of Transportation Services Regulation at the Ministry
of Transport and Infrastructure, noted the work carried out by the General
Directorates for the service of the road transport sector, underlining that
their Ministries are ready to take the necessary steps to solve the issue of
driver deprivation and that the work with all stakeholders will be carried out
under the leadership of the Ministry.
The panel, which was
organized by TOBB Transport and Logistics Systems Department and consisted of 3
main sessions: “Improving the Legal Conditions of Drivers” in road transport,
“Problems of the Driving Profession and Incentive to the Profession” and
“Training of Drivers”, noted the issue of providing impact analyses to meet the
driver's needs and provide solutions to the absence of drivers.
These panel outputs,
which are the main problems of the professional driving profession, which is a
must for safe and secure passenger transportation activities with the
uninterrupted operation of the supply chain in our country, are supported by
solution-oriented workshops to be held in the first quarter of 2022, and it is
planned to include all stakeholders from the public and private sectors in the
process and implement concrete results.
