The Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB) President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu hosted the International Road Union (IRU) Secretary General Martin Marmy and his IRU delegation. During the meeting, the facilitation attained by the implementation of the TIR Pre-Declaration in Turkey, the spread of the TIR system throughout the ancient Silk Road and the facilitation of the use of the TIR system when transporting between the EU and Turkey were discussed.
Hisarcıklıoğlu, touching on the importance of the TIR system in the region, stated that the system is important in the development and facilitation of trade in the region. Stating that the economic development of the region's countries will be achieved through commerce, Hisarcıklıoğlu said that TOBB stands ready to cooperate for spreading the TIR system.
