TOBB Muğla Women Entrepreneurs Council, which carries out its activities under the coordination of Muğla Chamber of Commerce and Industry, held an Aegean Region Meeting of TOBB Provincial Women Entrepreneurs Council with the participation of Regional Representative Esen Türker, regional provincial presidents and board members.
At the meeting hosted
by the Muğla Chamber of Commerce and Industry, TOBB Muğla Women Entrepreneurs
Council President Mehtap Şehiz Çahan gave information about the projects
carried out in cooperation with TOBB.
Çahan said in her
speech, “As the KGK, we have carried out some studies to increase the number of
women entrepreneurs and women's employment in Muğla, to be a role model for
women and to ensure the awareness of our board in Muğla. We were selected as
the pilot province together with İzmir and Antalya in the Our Business is Clean
Project. In cooperation with TOBB Women Entrepreneurs Council, OPET, Public
Education Centers affiliated to the Ministry of National Education General
Directorate of Lifelong Learning, we provided support to provide hygiene
trainings to a total of 4500 micro-enterprises from the food and beverage,
accommodation and transportation sectors. We contributed to the creation of
Muğla Sıtkı Koçman University Women and Young Entrepreneurs Community within
the framework of university-industry cooperation in order to instill an
entrepreneurial spirit in young people and especially young girls, to spread
entrepreneurship culture and to explain entrepreneurship as a profession.
Following the announcement of Türkiye's gender equality report card in 81
provinces, we carried out the ‘Fathers and Daughters’ project, in which the
success story of 63 women who took over from their fathers was told, in order
to crown Muğla, which was selected as the most egalitarian province, with a
project worthy of this title.”
Bülent Karakuş,
President of Muğla Chamber of Commerce and Industry, stated that as Muğla
Chamber of Commerce and Industry, they support the work of all district
chambers and commodity exchanges and Women and Young Entrepreneurs Councils,
and said, “In 2015, Muğla KGK put forward the ‘100 Women in 100 Years’ project,
which included women who had served Muğla. We realized the second of this
prestige project in 2022 with the Fathers and Daughters Project.I would like to express my thanks once again
our Muğla KGK President Mehtap Şeniz Çahan and the entrepreneurial, rational
and courageous women of Muğla, especially the Executive Committee. I would like
to promise that we will support every work that prioritizes women in a
male-dominated structure and reveals women in every economic, social-political
field. We know that reason and success have no gender. If women are strong,
society and country will be strong. We know that an economy cannot grow if
women's hands are not in it. In the name of the growth and development of our country’s
economy, we want our women, who constitute half of our population, to take part
in the business world at the same rate.”
After Dr. Şaban
Kızıldağ’s “Women Inspiring the Initiative” seminar, a consultation meeting was
held with the participation of regional provincial presidents.
At the meeting,
opinions were exchanged on the inclusion of new women entrepreneurs in the
ecosystem, the strengthening of existing women entrepreneurs, the development
of cooperation with universities and the expectations from the existing
projects carried out.
