The meeting of the TOBB Türkiye Machinery and Equipment Manufacturing Council was held in Ankara, chaired by Council President Kutlu Karavelioğlu and attended by TOBB Board Member Mehmet Büyüksimitci, who is responsible for the Council.
The opening speeches of
the meeting were delivered by Kutlu Karavelioğlu, Chairman of the Türkiye
Machinery and Equipment Manufacturing Council; Mehmet Büyüksimitci, TOBB Board
Member; Volkan Bahşi, Director of the Turkish Standards Institution (TSE); and
Umut Can Gök, Deputy Director General of Product Safety and Inspection at the
Ministry of Trade.
The main agenda items
of the meeting included: increasing opportunities for cooperation with the
sector in product safety inspections, evaluating foreign trade data and key
sector indicators for the first three quarters of 2025, the impact of recent
regulatory changes on the sector, and preparations for the 2026 foreign trade
regime.
Zühtü Bakır, Advisor to
the Türkiye Machinery and Equipment Manufacturing Council, gave a comprehensive
presentation on the sector’s foreign trade performance, key indicators, and
regulatory developments.
In addition, it was
decided to establish a Machinery Sustainability and Efficiency Committee with
the aim of achieving a more sustainable and efficient structure for the sector
in the coming period, and the committee members were determined during the
meeting. Information was also provided on the work of existing committees
active in the areas of legislation, machinery rental, energy efficiency, and
the circular economy.
