The Vocational Education Council of the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Türkiye (TOBB) convened at the TOBB Twin Towers.
The meeting addressed
the activities carried out since the last meeting and the issues facing the
sector. Salih Kaygusuz, Director General of Vocational and Technical Education
at the Ministry of National Education, also attended part of the meeting and held
consultations with the council.
Members of the TOBB
Vocational Education Council then attended the signing ceremony for the
Vocational and Technical Education Cooperation Protocol for the Agricultural
Sector, which was attended by Minister of National Education Yusuf Tekin and
TOBB President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu.
Under the protocol, 30
vocational high schools providing education in the field of agriculture will be
paired with the commodity exchanges and chambers of commerce/industry in their
respective provinces. The aim is for students to gain both theoretical
knowledge and practical experience in production processes. The goal is to
address the long-standing shortage of qualified human resources in the
agricultural sector and to strengthen cooperation between the business world
and educational institutions.
The TOBB Türkiye
Education Council meeting, held concurrently with the ceremony, was also
attended by Şeref Kazcıoğlu, Chairman of the TOBB Vocational Education Board.
At the meeting, Kazcıoğlu emphasized the need to expand public-private
partnerships in vocational education.
It was stated that the
protocol is an important step in terms of the agriculture-focused vocational
education model serving as an example for other sectors and bringing young people
into contact with production at an earlier age.
