Kuwaiti National Assembly President Marzouq Al Ghanim and the delegation accompanying him visited TOBB President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu at his office. During the meeting in which an exchange of ideas in regards to the development of economic cooperation between the two countries took place, the importance of the establishment of the Kuwaiti counterpart of the Turkish-Kuwaiti Business Council was emphasized.

Hisarcıklıoğlu stated that the obstacles to commerce among Kuwait and the 56
Islamic countries need to be eliminated stressed the importance of the signing
of the Free Trade Agreement between Turkey and the Gulf Cooperation Council as
well as the enactment of the Preferential Trade Agreement Between Islamic
Countries Agreement.
Hisarcıklıoğlu also
stated that the investments made to Turkey from Kuwait which has the highest
level of humane progress need to be increased. Hisarcıklıoğlu said, “While
Kuwaitis invest 37 billion USD to countries other than Kuwait, the bilateral
trade between Turkey and Kuwait for 2012 was only 550 million USD. We invite
Kuwaiti investors to invest more in our country.”

Kuwait National
Assembly President Marzouq Al Ghanim stated that there are strong bonds between
Kuwait, other Arab countries and Turkey and contributions could be made by
forming cooperative relations between Turkey and the gulf countries.
Al Ghanim, stated
that they’ve designated Turkey as one of the prioritized investment partner
countries for Kuwait and reported that the necessary political support for the
development of the trade between Turkey and Kuwait.
Al Ghanim also
reported that a bill which would facilitate the business of investors is being
prepared in Kuwait and is expected to enter into effect in 2 months.
