TOBB President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu, speaking at the Industry Night, said, “Does Kayseri not deserve a high velocity train? I’ll leave it at that and let the government have its say.”
The 2013 Industry
Night and Annual Awards Ceremony was attended by Deputy Prime Minister Ali
Babacan Energy and Natural Resources Minister Taner Yıldız, TOBB President M.
Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu, Kayseri Governor Orhan Düzgün, Kayseri Municipality
Director Mehmet Özhaseki, county municipality directors, industrialists as well
as many other guests.
Giving a speech at
the event, TOBB President Hisarcıklıoğlu said, “Talent is subject to
compliment. The residents of Kayseri, we are often late in giving
acknowledgement to achievements. However, I would like to thank KAYSO for
organizing this event.
In our childhood we
always dreamed of the times when Turkey would produce its own energy. I would
like to thank the Energy and Natural Resources Minister Taner Yıldız who has
been instrumental in introducing nuclear energy to Turkey.”
Stating that in order
to develop the economy, cooperation between universities and the industry must
be established, “There are 4 universities in Kayseri and it is the most
preferred city to attend university following İstanbul and Ankara. Kayseri is a
brand name in university education.”
Stating that we need
to open Anatolia up to Europe, Hisarcıklıoğlu said that they’ve made their
sacrifice in starting train runs.
Hisarcıklıoğlu
expounded the merits of transporting goods via rail rather than highway in
regards to time and money.
Stating that no good
deed goes unpunished, Hisarcıklıoğlu said that they were being punished even
after the modernization and the consequent exemplification of TOBB by the United
Nations.
Hisarcıklıoğlu ended
his speech with, “Does Kayseri not deserve a high velocity train? I’ll leave it
at that and let the government have its say.”

Deputy Prime Minister
Ali Babacan and Energy and Natural Resources Minister Taner Yıldız also gave
speeches following TOBB President Hisarcıklıoğlu. Babacan spoke about the
developments in the last 5 years such as the rapid recovery from the crisis,
development of competition and the decreasing level of income disparity.
Minister Yıldız
touched on the developments in the energy sector ranging from producing energy
for domestic use to relaying energy to Europe.
KAYSO President
Mustafa Boydak stated that Kayseri’s export volume has exceeded 2 billion USD
and will continue to increase.
After the speeches,
Deputy Prime Minister Ali Babacan, Energy and Natural Resources Minister Taner
Yıldız and TOBB President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu presented the companies which
are listed on the first and second 500 industry institutions from Kayseri with
their awards.
