CHP President Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu accepted the Turkey – EU Joint Arbitration Committee (KİK) co-chaired by TESK President Bendevi Palandöken.
Attending the reception held at the CHP head office were TOBB President Rifat
Hisarcıklıoğlu, Türk-İş President Ergün Atalay, Hak-İş President Mahmut Arslan,
Memur-Sen President Ahmet Gündoğdu, TİSK Board Chairman Tuğrul Kudatgobilik and
Turkey Kamu-Sen President İsmail Koncuk.
The meeting was held closed to the press, followed by Palandöken’s
address of the press wherein he reported that they have requested a softening
in the political arena and a return of focus on the economy. Stating that the
local elections are behind us, Palandöken stressed the need to focus on
employment, sustenance and homeland and went on:
“Our visit, in essence, is about the continuity of unity, livelihood and
honesty of the country.
It is necessary to soften rhetoric and refocus on economy, speeding up
the EU process and pushing on with the work on the new constitution are among
the issues which the country must focus on instead of the tension and stress of
elections.”
Palandöken reported that they will have completed their visits following
the BDP reception, after which they will be meeting with TBMM Speaker Cemil
Çiçek and the President of the Republic Abdullah Gül. Palandöken said, “A busy
agenda lies ahead. Presidential election as well as national elections. We hope
that this period can be completed with a focus on the unity, livelihood and the
feeling of trust. This is our country. We are all united in our hope for unity
and livelihood of the homeland.”
Palandöken stated they will be issuing a declaration after the
completion of the meetings.
