Iranian Minister of Industry, Commerce and Mining Rıza Nematzade visited TOBB President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu. Reporting that there is a sharp drop in bilateral trade figures in comparison to the previous year, Hisarcıklıoğlu emphasized the need for two sister countries to be able to engage in commerce unhindered.
TOBB President Hisarcıklıoğlu drew attention to the fact that some of
the most involved foreign companies in Turkey in regards to investments have
been from Iran.
The Iranian Minister Nematzade stated that the Preferential Trade
Agreement signed by the two countries in January was o the utmost importance
and that once it enters into effect, many problems encountered by businessmen
will be solved. Drawing attention to the fact that the bilateral trade volume
between the two countries will also increase, the Iranian Minister stressed the
need to open joint border gates going on to expresse their wishes for more
Turkish companies to invest in Iran.
At the end of the meeting Nematzade invited Hisarcıklıoğlu to visit
Iran.
