In a message regarding the November 24th Teachers’ Day, TOBB President and TOBB University of Economics and Technology (ETU) Board of Trustees Chairman M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu stated that the country’s goals for the future can only be achieved through the efforts of teachers.
Hisarcıklıoğlu said, “Tomorrow will be shaped by the children and youth
of today. As the Turkish business community, we believe that the future will be
drawn by the teachers who educate them. We owe much to the teachers who play
such a large role and make great sacrifices in the upbringing of our children.”
Hisarcıklıoğlu said in his message:
“It is the shared view of all that one of the most selfless, most
respectable professions in society is teaching; it is a guiding light for our
children. As the great leader Atatürk said, only teachers can eradicate
ignorance, the enemy of modern society. As students of history, teachers are
the real architects of our future.
As businessmen, we invest and face the risk of loss with each one. There
is only one investment which has no chance of failing in life and that is
investing in education. We can’t lose out in this field. It is with this
understanding that as the umbrella organization of the Turkish business
community that we founded the TOBB University of Economics and Technology which
opened its doors to students during the 2004-2005 education year.
We strive to train the leaders, administrators and social movers of the
future. We’ve begun to reap the fruits of our labors; our alumni have attained
successes which have greatly honored us. We honor our teachers through our
achievements, they take pride in the students they’ve educated.
It is with these thoughts and feelings that I present the gratitude and
respect of our community to our dear teachers on this November 24th
Teachers Day”.
