TOBB President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu stating that they would be providing support for the families of the miners who lost their lives during the incident at the mine in Ermenek, said, “As the TOBB Board of Directors we have decided to provide the families with houses.”
Hisarcıklıoğlu stated that they put great importance on social
responsibility, “In twelve years our aid and investments in regards to natural
disasters, education, food and culture have reached 500 million TRY. We are
still building 81 high schools in 81 provinces.”
Hisarcıklıoğlu, stating that they mobilized the business community to
support the families of the miners who lost their lives at the Soma mining
incident, said, “We presented the 17 million TRY to the government. We are also
planning a similar support package for the incident in Ermenek. As TOBB, we
will not be handing out any extra presents to our presidents and members. We
have decided to provide the families with houses.”
Stating that they are always behind those in need, domestically as well
as internationally, Hisarcıklıoğlu reported that they have provided aid in many
countries as well as preserving cultural treasures in order to pass them on to
younger generations.
Hisarcıklıoğlu said, “We have compiled the works of Mehmet Akif, Yunus
Emre and Necip Fazıl. This year we will undertake the reproduction of one of
the most ancient Turkish epics, the Book of Dede Korkut of the Oghuz Turks.
Those who read this book learn the essence of Turkish ethics and tradition; of
Turkish history. There are two copies of the Book of Dede Korkut, one in
Dresden, Germany, the other in the Vatican. We have worked diligently in order
to gain access to these. When we looked upon the final product, we knew that
our efforts were not in vain.”
