TOBB President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu, in his press release regarding the January 10th Journalists’ Day, drew attention to the crucial role of journalists in the enlightenment of societies and the march of civilization, saying “Journalists’ honest and conscientious pens are what light the way for society. Never fret for a society with free and honest press.”

Hisarcıklıoğlu said in his message:

“Journalism is an honorable and meaningful profession. As a society, it is impossible to not appreciate their hardships and labors.

The most effective tool for informing the people and making its voice heard are press organizations only if they adopt principled, impartial and free pens.

Turkey has grand goals and dreams for the future. It would be impossible for us to reach these goals without a strong, respectable and principled press. If we are to grow our economy, the mental and physical efforts of our journalists to this end very important.

It is with these though that I, on behalf of the Turkish business community, celebrate Journalists’ Day and wish their continued success.”
