The Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB) President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu hosted the European Free Trade Association Parliamentary Committee Delegation at his office.
During the meeting, the need to strengthen bonds between EFTA and Turkey
was emphasized. Providing information about TOBB, Hisarcıklıoğlu stressed the
need to utilize opportunities and remove obstacles in order to intensify
EFTA-Turkey relations. Expressing their support for extending the EFTA
Agreement to cover the service sector, Hisarcıklıoğlu stated that it presents
important opportunities in regards to the healthcare sector.
Also the B20 Turkey Chair, M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu expressed that they
expect international EFTA member state companies to take up duties in these in
this regard. G20, which makes up two thirds of the global economy, can be
considered a solution platform for international issues.
EFTA Delegation President Kathy Riklin stated that they are pleased to
be conducting this visit with the goal of updating and expanding the Free Trade
Agreement signed by EFTA and Turkey in 1992. Reporting that they want to
include service trade into the 22 year old agreement, Riklin emphasized that
they also aim to facilitate trade.
