24.01.2015 Davos
A reception was held in honor of Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu by the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB) and B20 Turkey.
Approximately 200 Turkish and foreign business people, politicians and
journalists attended the reception, an important occasion for the promotion of
Turkey’s G20 and B20 Term Chairmanship.
During his speech at the reception, PM Davutoğlu congratulated TOBB
President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu and other G20 Task Forces.
“During the G20 Summit, there was great coordination among the summit
leaders and the political elements of the global system. G20 is a summit of the
business community. This connection forms the main structure of the political
order.”
Emphasizing that they’ve taken the Silk Road as example, PM Davutoğlu
said, “If there is a G in there it should mean Global 20. This is after all a
global age. Every country is interconnected. All countries have dealings with
each other in this modern age, similar to the caravan relations of the Silk
Road. The new caravans are the internet, email, e-commerce and communication
tools. Physical caravans no longer exist. People are brought closer by
technology. What is the solution at this point? Firstly there is a matter of
shared fate. This shared fate is the shared fate of all governments and G20
countries.”
Davutoğlu asked that those attending the reception voice their issues
with the global economy.
Stating that there would be interaction between G20 and B20, Davutoğlu
stated that there would be a lot of interaction between politics and economy.
Stressing the fact that their duty as the G20 leaders is not only to
generate strategy for all world economies, but at the same time ensure that
these are implemented, Davutoğlu stated that this is the reason they need the
efforts of the B20.
B20 Turkey and TOBB President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu stated that one of
the things which garnered most interest at Davos was Turkey’s implementation of
10 regional consultation forums in order to bring the voices of rising
countries to B20, saying “Turkey’s B20 chair term will be the world’s B20 chair
term.”
