In his press release regarding the March 18th Martyrs’ Remembrance Day and the 100th Anniversary of the Çanakkale Naval Victory, TOBB President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu said, “The spirit of Çanakkale is the promise that the great nation living in this land has made to history that it will live united and independent forever. This victory is the best example of national unity and solidarity.”
Hisarcıklıoğlu said in his message:
“The words ‘Çanakkale cannot be crossed’ written in history with over
250,000 martyrs sacrificing their lives carries with it significant meaning. The
Çanakkale Victory is the proof of what a nation who considers its homeland
holier than its own life, what it will do to maintain its independence is
capable of. This is a seldom-encountered sort of resistance and a true epic of
tenacity.
The duty which befalls us and future generations is to ensure that these
lands are characterized by peace and development and as a center of prosperity
forever. Let none doubt that our flag will fly over these lands which our
ancestors gladly gave their lives for will, until the end of time. Our goal is
to become the most advanced country in the world and it is a goal from which we
will never turn away from.
It is with these thoughts and feelings that I, on behalf of the Turkish
business community, extend our gratitude to the Veteran, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk
and all the heroes of this epic and remember the martyrs with gratitude and
respect and share in the pride of this day with our great nation.”
