Visiting Erdemli Chamber of Commerce and Industry Chair Orhan Sarı, Board Members and Council Members, TOBB President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu said, “It is very fitting to call Erdemli the capital for lemons. Don’t forget that agriculture is not just for subsistence any more, it is a significant tool for profit. That is why it has been scaled and conducted in an informed manner.”
During his visit to Erdemli TSO, TOBB President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu
said in his speech, “First of all, exporters conducting business in risky
regions should insure their dues.
As someone who was been all over Turkey, I can tell that we have been
blessed in regards to geography. We’ve been given every opportunity. What you
need to do is work and work hard. Erdemli with its lemon production is rightly
the ‘Lemon Capital’. Having researched the trade of Mersin and its counties,
I’ve learned that over 50% of the goods exported from here are exported to the
riskiest regions in the world for trading with. My suggestion for exporters is
to most definitely take advantage of the Exim, or due, insurance. Do this to
ensure that your gains are 100% guaranteed.”
- QR code cheques will enter into
effect
Reporting that QR coded cheques will be entering circulation following
their meeting with Deputy PM Ali Babacan, Hisarcıklıoğlu stated that a new
transaction instrument would become available, reporting that by scanning the
QR code of the cheque, you would have access to information regarding the
transaction history of the person who gave you the cheque. This would include
whether the owner has unpaid debts or has given out bounced cheques in the
past. I would suggest that you all insure your dues. Don’t let your effort and
capital go to waste.”
Pointing out that the agriculture sector has become a premium sector in
the world, Hisarcıklıoğlu said, “Agriculture is no longer just for subsistence,
but has instead become a serious source of profit globally. The world’s
population increases by an equivalent to that of Turkey each year. Every person
who is born is automatically a consumer.” Stating that the increasing
population and its level of buying power translates directly into increased
income for the agriculture, Hisarcıklıoğlu said, “Don’t forget that agriculture
is not just for subsistence any more, it is a significant tool for profit. That
is why it has been scaled and conducted in an informed manner.”
Following the speech, Chamber Chairman Orhan Sarı and Council Chairman
Nihat Taner exchanged gifts with Hisarcıklıoğlu, presenting him with an
engraving of the Maiden Tower and being presented copies of the Book of Dede
Korkut produced by TOBB.
Hisarcıklıoğlu and the delegation accompanying then traveled to Mersin
from Erdemli, attending the dinner organized by the Mersin Chamber of Commerce
and Industry.
