TOBB President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu visited the Mersin Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MTSO). Stating that the Marmara Region has become overcrowded, Hisarcıklıoğlu said, “The sun rises from Mersin, Adana. We must think of a new Marmara Region which encompasses Çukurova, Kayseri and Konya. In order to bring this about, the first thing we need is transportation. Anatolia and Antalya requires transportation. This should be your priority. In order to become one of the capitals of tourism and industry, it is imperative to have an airport.”

chamber-exchange presidents from surrounding counties and provinces, visited
Mersin TSO Chairman Şerafetting Aşut and the Board and Council Members.
Mersin is one of Turkey’s pioneering provinces with the role it plays in
agriculture, foreign trade, logistics and industry, stated Hisarcıklıoğlu and
went on to report that the fastest growing port in Turkey is Mersin, “Mersin has
an industry contribution to its GDP at 35%. Mersin is one of our prominent
industrial ccities.”
- “A new type of cheque will
enter the market soon”
Reporting that QR coded cheques will be entering circulation following
their meeting with Deputy PM Ali Babacan, Hisarcıklıoğlu stated that a new
transaction instrument would become available.
By scanning the QR code of the cheque, one would have access to
information regarding the transaction history of the person who gave you the
cheque. This would include whether the owner has unpaid debts or has given out
bounced cheques in the past, Hisarcıklıoğlu went on, “You would have the option
of asking for a regular or QR code cheque. With QR coded cheques you would have
additional information and not be working on hunches.”
