In a message in regards to the 170th anniversary of the foundation of the Turkey Police Department, TOBB President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu stated that police are the stalwart protectors of the democratic order and said, “Acting to fulfill their duty heroically and through self-sacrifice, our police are the apple in the eye of our nation. If rules and laws are to be obeyed, police are its arteries.”
Hisarcıklıoğlu said in his message:
“The Police Department, with its lengthy history, is one of the most
important factors in the surety of our domestic security and peaceful life.
Power derived from the law and the people, it is well known that the
police conducts its work under difficult conditions.
Always worthy of praise and thanks, it is our duty to look out for the
police with the knowledge that they work around the clock at great risk to
their lives for us.
The great Atatürk said, ‘Police are the men of law. Always deserving of
respect and obedience,’ clearly pointing out the fact that we can only preserve
our order through understanding in the framework of law and order.
It is with these thoughts and sentiments that I, on behalf of the
Turkish business community, extend our gratitude to the men and women of the
police for their self-sacrifice and service and congratulate the Police
Department on the 170th anniversary of its foundation.”
