B20 Turkey Chair and TOBB President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu was hosted by Azerbaijani President İlham Aliyev in Baku during his visit for the B20 Azerbaijan Regional Consultation Meeting.
During the meeting, also attended by Deputy Prime Minister Ali Babacan,
Hisarcıklıoğlu thanked President Aliyev for his war welcome and private sector
friendly approach, saying, “We will continue to work diligently for the
development of Azeri – Turkish economic relations as well as cooperation on
global platforms such as B20 and others.”
Also discussed during the meeting were steps necessary for furthering
the already good relations between Azerbaijan and Turkey.
- Meeting with Prime Minister
Rasizade
B20 Turkey Chair and TOBB President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu and Deputy
Prime Minister Babacan met with Prime Minister Artur Rasizade following the
reception.
Deputy PM Babacan stated that G20, with Turkey as Term Chair, is an
institution which represents 85% of the world’s wealth, being comprised of the
EU and 19 other countries.
Reporting that they are authorized to invite a non-member to the G20
Summit which will be held in Turkey, Babacan said, “We have used this right to
invite our brother, Azerbaijan.”
Hisarcıklıoğlu and Babacan also met with the Speaker of the Azerbaijan
National Assembly Oktay Esedov.
Emphasizing that the relations between the two countries is very
special, Babacan stated that the two countries share roots, culture and fate.
Pointing out the importance of the relations between the two countries
for the peace and stability of the region, not just the two countries, Babacan
said, “We wish to further our relations with our brother country Azerbaijan in
all fields. We must elevate our relations especially in the economic sense.”
- Memorial visit
Hisarcıklıoğlu and Babacan also visited the martyr memorials as a part
of their visit.
At Fahri Hiyaban, Babacan left a wreath on the late President Haydar
Aliyev’s grave as well as a rose on that of his wife, Zarife Aliyeva.
Deputy Prime Minister Babacan left carnations on the graves of the
January 20th martyrs as well as a wreath on the Eternal Flame
Memorial.
