In his celebratory message regarding the July 1st Cabotage Day, TOBB President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu said, “If Turkey is to grow its economy and become one of the 110 largest economies in the world, one of the foundational dynamics of it needs to be maritime trade.”
Hisarcıklıoğlu said in his message:
“Greatly successful in maritime affairs, our nation must expand and grow
its ship building, maritime transportation and port capacities. Referred to as
privileges in regards to maritime affairs, cabotage was one of the most
important gains of our economy which entered into effect on July 1st
1926.
The right to sail various crafts in all waters of our country belongs to
all of our citizens. Transportation of passengers and goods between our ports
is one of the most important indicators of independence as well as being a
reminder that is has great potential for our economy.
It is with these thoughts and feelings that I congratulate the Cabotage
Day of all our mariners and nation.”
