Attending the Aksaray Commodity Exchange Agricultural Trade Center foundation laying ceremony, TOBB President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu stated that the total global income has increased by 33 times while agriculture and livestock husbandry have increased 175% in price.
Stressing that Aksaray is a very important agricultural center,
Hisarcıklıoğlu said, “The most problematic issue for agriculture in Aksaray is
irrigation. I have relayed this to the responsible authorities. Just as Göksu
vas brought to Konya, we must bring the waters of Kızılırmak to Aksaray. We
will follow up on this all together. Our goal is to develop agriculture.”
Hisarcıklıoğlu, reporting that Turkey is one of the top 7 countries in
the world in agriculture and livestock husbandry, “In the last 10 years, total
global income has increased by 33 times while agriculture and livestock
husbandry have increased 175% in price. There are two reasons to this. Firstly,
the global population increases by an amount equaling the population of Turkey
each year. Secondly, annually, 500 million people have immigrated to urban
centers, especially in Southeast and Eastern Asia. This is in essence a
transition from low income to medium income. This has caused increases in food
prices globally.”
Congratulating Aksaraya Commodity Exchange Chairman Hamit Özkök, board
and council members, Hisarcıklıoğlu stated that they’ve undertaken a truly
visionary endeavor.
Emphasizing that this will benefit farmers, traders and industrialists,
the TOBB Presidents, “Aksaray will prosper. I thank the governor, mayor and PMs
for their support in the construction of the facilities.
Also attending the ceremony were TOBB Treasurer Faik Yavuz, Aksaray Governor
Şeref Ataklı, Aksaray Mayor Haluk Şahin Yazgı, Aksaray PMs Turan Yaldır and İlknur
İnceöz, Niğde PM Erdoğan Özegen, Aksaray TB Chair Hamit Özkök, Aksaray TSO Chair
Ahmet Koçaş as well as chairpersons of surrounding provinces and counties.
