TOBB President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu attended the Sunflower Festival organized by the Kırıkkale Chamber of Commerce and Industry and toured the booths of the TOBB Kırıkkale Women Entrepreneurs Council in Republic Square.
Afterwards, attending the gala dinner, Hisarcıklıoğlu reported that
Kırıkkale produces 8% of Turkey’s seeding sunflowers as well as 10% of total
appetizer sunflower seeds.
Stating that sunflower seeds are very important for the promotion of
Kırıkkale, Hisarcıklıoğlu said, “What separates our sunflower seeds from those
of other cities is that ours are not for oil but rather as appetizers. We must
raise awareness to the Kırıkkale’s place in sunflower production in order to
promote the city.” Hisarcıklıoğlu went on to stress the importance of branding
and promoting the city in order to prosper.
Stating that the way to end unemployment and attain prosperity is
through entrepreneurship, TOBB President Hisarcıklıoğlu stressed the importance
of tapping into our unused resources, women. Reporting that half of the population
are women, however they are not encouraged towards entrepreneurship,
Hisarcıklıoğlu spoke about the TOBB Women Entrepreneurs Council and their
efforts throughout the country.
Attending the gala dinner were TOBB Presidential Council Member and Board
Member Faik Yavuz, Kırıkkale Governor Ali Kolat, Kırıkkale Chamber of Commerce
and Industry Chairman Ekrem Gök, Kırıkkale Women Entrepreneurs Council Chair Suna
Arpaçay Özer.
Following the dinner, plaques were presented to those who contributed to
the festival.
