EUROCHAMBRES Vice President and TOBB President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu stated in his speech during the EUROCHAMBRES Affiliated and Correspondent Members Committee meeting, “We are living in a time of great uncertainties and major challenges. Low economic growth, unemployment and especially young unemployment, protectionism and last but not least, migration are the main source of these challenges”
Hisarcıklıoğlu reported that over 200 million workers across the world
have lost their jobs due to insufficient training and automation, and also
political and economic crises.
Stating that the United States is negotiating two major agreements,
Hisarcıklıoğlu said, “Transatlantic Trade and Investment Agreement with the
European Union and Trans-Pacific Partnership with several Pacific Rim
countries. These two major agreements will change the rules of the game at the
global level. Climate change and land degradation are also among the global
challenges. These two major topics will be tackled in Ankara and Paris this
year in major United Nations Conferences.”
Hisarcıklıoğlu stated that the EU and EU membership are still the
target the benchmark and road map of
most of EUROCHAMBRES Non-EU members. We are aware of the transformative power
of the EU. We know that our destiny is not far away from the EU.
Stating that they are following the developments in the EU closely,
Hisarcıklıoğlu said, “It is encouraging finally to have Greece and the EU
agreed on a plan. This is good for the EU, for Greece and also for our
countries. We hope that, there will be a smooth implementation.”
Relaying that, EUROCHAMBRES President Richard Weber made clear the
position of EUROCHAMBRES on the candidate, potential candidate and neighboring
countries during their visit to Commissioner Hahn, Hisarcıklıoğlu said, “I would
like to thank Richard, Arnaldo and his team for their commitment to the Non-EU
members of EUROCHAMBRES.”
During the meeting, M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu, President of the Union of
Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey; Uriel Lyn, President of the
Federation of Israeli Chambers of Commerce; Nino Chikovani, President of
Georgian Chamber of Commerce and Industry; Bruno Brojć, Vice President of Foreign
Trade Chamber of Bosnia and Herzegovina;
Serbian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Marko Cadez were nominated in a
pre-selection process in preparation for the EUROCHAMBRES 2016 Board Members
Elections.
