TOBB President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu said, “In order to make Turkey a player on the international level of agriculture, Turkey must establish the product specialized exchanges necessary to compete on the global markets.”

Strategic Cooperation Signature and Gong ceremony at the Konya Commodity
Exchange which was also attended by Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu, stated that
Konya is the historical center of agriculture.
Stating that the Konya Plain, one of the most important sources of food
for Anatolia, has not received its due, Hisarcıklıoğlu said, “The rule of trade
is that no matter how much you produce you won’t profit if you can’t form a
market. A new age is upon us in regards to agricultural goods. Our endeavors
will make agriculture in Konya more important than ever.”
Reporting that KTB has implemented the most modern infrastructure in the
world, Hisarcıklıoğlu stated that the electronic sale hall and exchange
laboratory have begun operation, “The Exchange Konya Platform has been
established for acquisitions. Now the cooperation is taking another step
forward, cooperating with Exchange İstanbul for future acquisitions of product
bonds.”
Hisarcıklıoğlu stated that the cooperation between Exchange İstanbul and
Exchange Konya would provide valuable experience until product specialized
exchanges are established, “We must take this a step further and establish
product specialized exchanges. The first step necessary in reaching this goal
was licensed warehousing which was made into law.”
Stating that they are ready to undertake licensed warehousing with the
commodity exchanges of Turkey, Hisarcıklıoğlu said, “A great capacity has
surfaced. In order to make Turkey a player in international agriculture, to
reach global markets, product specialized exchanges must be established.”
Reporting that they are working together with the Customs and Commerce Ministry
as well as the Food, Agriculture and Livestock Ministry, Hisarcıklıoğlu stated
that this most significant revolution in Turkey’s agriculture would occur in PM
Davutoğlu’s term.

Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu said, “The necessary legal
implementations will be made within the first half of this year, making product
specialized exchanges a reality.”
Stating that the cooperation between Exchange Konya and Exchange
İstanbul are very important due to the fact that Exchange İstanbul is in direct
contact with Exchange London, enabling Exchange Konya to be integrated with
İstanbul, London and New York, Davutoğlu said, “An economy with isolated
markets unable to reach the national and from there unto global level is unsustainable.”

Exchange İstanbul General Director Tuncay Dinç stated that a crisis took
place in Turkey in 2008 and that a global crisis is now present.
Exchange İstanbul Board of Directors Chair Talat Ulussever stated that
Exchange İstanbul and Exchange Konya agreement is preparing grounds for an
effective unity in Turkey.
Konya Commodity Exchange Chair Hüseyin Çevik stated that the agreement
with Exchange İstanbul will provide a model for Exchange İstanbul Agricultural
Goods and Product Specialized Markets product exchanges.
