During the meeting hosted by TOBB President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu and attended by Food, Agriculture and Livestock Farming Minister Faruk Çelik, licensed warehousing and product specialized exchanges as well as modern agriculture market issues were discussed.
TOBB President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu pointed out that Minister Faruk
Çelik has always been a friend to the private sector, that they find many
opportunities to work together closely and thanked him for his approach.
Stating that they’ve met to discuss issues of modern farming in detail,
Hisarcıklıoğlu said, “We will especially discuss licensed warehousing, a
critical component of agricultural markets and product specialized exchanges.”
- TMO will pull out of
warehousing; will continue acquisitions
Food, Agriculture and Livestock Farming Minister Faruk Çelik stated that
the Agricultural Products Office (TMO) will continue with their acquisitions
and that work is underway for TMO to pull out of the warehousing sector.
Çelik emphasized that they are working on steps in regards to the
licensed warehousing system and drew attention to the fact that they are
working to develop and spread the system.
Çelik reported that the TMO-TOBB Agricultural Goods Licensed Warehousing
Inc. (LİDAŞ) is continuing its efforts and said, “There are random inspections
undergoing with these endeavors. TMO will continue its acquisitions; work is
underway for TMO to pull out of the warehousing sector. The public sector will
step out of a sector in which it should not be when current conditions are
considered. With this in mind, we will consider such technical matters as what
kind of system we must implement, how much storage we will need.”
