TOBB President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu issued a press release regarding the bill passed by the German Parliament classifying the Armenian incidents of 1915 as genocide.

Hisarcıklıoğlu said in his press release:

“The decision of the German Parliament is a historic mistake. I vehemently condemn it.

Historical events should be evaluated by historians, not politicians and these matters should be kept well away from political debate.

We have relayed our concerns to our business organization counterparts in Germany. This decision, opposed by our business partners as well, is an unjust decision and will unfortunately remain as a black mark on the history of Turkish-German relations.”
