Russia takes first step to lift visas for Turkish businessmen. TOBB President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu, along with the delegation accompanying him, had conducted several contacts in Russia, urging that visas be lifted for businessmen.

reported a seemingly important development in regards to Russia’s reinstated
visa policy for Turkish citizens as sanctions against Turkey in regards to the
downing of the Russian fighter jet last November:
“Russian Economic
Development Ministry has put in a request to the Russian Ministry of Foreign
Affairs in regards to lifting visas for Turkish businessmen. Sputniknews
announced the development with the title ‘First step from Russia for lifting
visas.’ According to the article, Russian Economic Development Ministry has
requested that Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs engage with the Turkish
Ministry of Foreign Affairs to lift visas for businessmen of the two countries
in a reciprocal fashion.

Russian Ministry of
Foreign Affairs Deputy Secretary Alexey Likhachev stated that they have
received a clear indication that relations should be normalize with Turkey in
regards to cooperation in trade and tourism at the start of August.
