TOBB will lead an business expedition to Qatar along with businessmen. TOBB President Hisarcıklıoğlu pointed out that Qatar is the country with the highest per capita national income, stating that they want to increase trade relations with the Gulf Region.
The Union of Chambers
and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB) will organize a trade expedition to
Doha on January 17th and 18th, 2017, as a part of its
activities towards the countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council.
The program to be
organized under the auspices of the Qatar Prime Minister Shaikh Abdullah bin
Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani, via TOBB-Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry cooperation,
is aiming to create new partnerships and increase trade.
TOBB President M.
Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu said, “TOBB is making an intensive effort to develop
economic relations with the Gulf Region in particular. Throughout this process,
we work closely with the Federation of the Gulf Cooperation Council while also working
directly with chamber associations of the Gulf countries. In this context, I
invite you to explore our business opportunities in Qatar.”
As a part of the
Qatar program, the 2017 2nd SME Conference will take place where e-commerce, financing
of investments, entrepreneurship, innovation, increasing technology and
agriculture-related panels will take place.
Bilateral talks will
be held between Turkish and Qatar firms in various sectors, including
agriculture and food, renewable energy, energy, oil and gas, construction and
infrastructure, construction materials, health, pharmaceuticals and health
equipment, machinery and equipment.

Qatar, with a
population of 2.5 million, is the country with the highest per capita national
income, according to purchasing power parity.
The country, which is
rich in natural resources, has the world's largest natural gas reserves. Qatar
aims to turn its economy based on natural resources into a knowledge-based
economy with its vision for 2030.
Qatar will host the
2022 World Football Championship. Especially in the infrastructure and
construction sectors, Turkish companies have signed important projects in
Qatar.
Turkish firms have
successfully completed 124 projects in Qatar, amounting to 13.7 billion USD.
Qatar is the third largest Turkish construction market in the Middle East and
the seventh largest in the world.
TOBB held the
Turkey-Gulf Business and Investment Forum in Bahrain on the 1st and 2nd
of November 2016, encompassing all of the Gulf Cooperation Countries, with over
700 companies represented from Turkey and 6 GCC members stated.
