TOBB President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu, speaking at the awards ceremony of Turkey 100 competition which determines the fastest growing companies, said, “We want to draw attention to the success of the fastest growing companies in our country and strengthen their global connections.”
Under TOBB’s leadership,
Turkey's fastest growing 100 companies were identified through TEPAV
cooperation. The award ceremony was held with the attendances of Deputy Prime
Minister Nurettin Canikli, hosted by TOBB President Hisarcıklıoğlu. Ares
Shipyards, an Antalya company which increased its sales by 4,473% in 3 years,
took the first place. Companies in the top 100 grew 12 times faster than
Turkey. Most of the companies in the list are from Istanbul with the majority in
wholesale trade.
Speaking at the
awards ceremony, TOBB President Hisarcıklıoğlu stated that the average growth
rate of the 100 fastest growing companies in Turkey in 2012-2015 is 438%, according
to contest results, “This is a terrific figure, 12 times higher than the
national income increase in Turkey.”
Hisarcıklıoğlu reported
that when considering companies that apply for the list of the 100 fastest
growing companies in Turkey, their turnover increase rates for 2012-2015 are
taken into account. “The average growth rate of the 100 fastest growing
companies in Turkey is 438%." This is a terrific figure, a performance 12
times higher than the increase in national income.”
Hisarcıklıoğlu
reminded that the companies on the list are all innovative companies, noting
that the companies do business with a very different understanding from what everyone
knows.
- Michael Jordan as an example for entrepreneurs
Hisarcıklıoğlu
pointed out that the competition aims to increase the number of entrepreneur
role models:
“Every company wants
to be a model for new entrepreneurs. The listed companies are already doing it.
Only 40 out of 100 companies in the list have supported their employees to set
up their own businesses. There are 192 companies that are established and still
in operation.”
Stating that entrepreneurs
should learn about success as well as failure stories, Hisarcıklıoğlu said, “Success
is actually the reward for previous failures. Michael Jordan, one of the best
basketball players ever, says ‘I missed 9,000 shots in my career. I lost almost
300 games. I did not score any points in 26 matches and my team lost because of
me. If it weren’t for my failures, I would not have been able to even imagine
what I could do. Anyone who thinks I will fail and gives up will not succeed.’”
- Deputy Prime Minister Nurettin Canikli
In his speech, Deputy
Prime Minister Nurettin Canikli said that implementation of the loans will
start next week with the guarantee of the Credit Guarantee Fund (KGF), “We are
closing off all areas where the bank may say 'no'. We certainly will not allow companies
to withdraw from the market due to financial difficulties.”
Speaking at the
ceremony held at the TOBB Conference Hall for the companies that received awards
in the Turkey 100 competition, Canikli said production was a difficult and
laborious process.
Canikli stated that
there are concerns about the active qualities of big banks in developed
countries, and noted that there is no problem with the assets of Turkish banks.
Canikli underlined
the fact that the Turkish banking system is not in any way incidental to
fluctuations despite the fluctuations, “After the 2008 crisis, the American
Central Bank (Fed) pumped trillions of USD into US banks, the European Central
Bank (ECB) doing the same for European banks. There has been no need at all for
transferring a single penny from the public in Turkey.”
- First place from Antalya
Following the
speeches, Ares Shipyards was awarded the first place prize, followed by Best
Modular Furniture and Es Group Maritime from Kocaeli and Dönersan Döner
companies from İstanbul.
There were 39
companies from Istanbul, 8 from Kocaeli, 7 from Izmir, 5 from Adana, Ankara and
Antalya, 4 from Gaziantep, 3 from Bursa and Kayseri.
