TOBB President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu pointed out that interest in the mediation system has increased, and reported that close to 3,000 disputes were resolved in January. Hisarcıklıoğlu, urging employers and workers to utilize mediation before the brining issues to court which will result in much faster resolutions.
Hisarcıklıoğlu reported
that arbitration and mediation centers are being opened in chambers and
commodity exchanges constantly to facilitate access to this system which
enables reaching resolution quicker.

Hisarcıklıoğlu stated that mediation is one of the most used systems in
alternative dispute resolution methods in the developed societies and has been
practiced in Turkey for about 4 years, “It is a fact accepted by everyone that
mediation has been a rapidly accelerating institution since its entry into our
legal system. Especially in recent years there has been a great increase in the
number of disputes that have been settled by mediation and now the current
number has reached 9,000. As a matter of fact, close to 3,000 disputes were
solved by mediation only in January.”
- Arbitration adoption gains momentum
Hisarcıklıoğlu stated
that the mediation system has started to be adopted by the citizens as an
alternative resolution method. Stating that TOBB has supported this system from
the beginning, he said that TOBB would continue to give it full support.

said the following: “Nowadays, the problems experienced in the classical
judiciary are known to everyone. We think that it is right for everyone to find
faster and more economical solutions. Our state recognizes this right of its
citizens; mediation is a system that facilitates access to justice. We believe
that our business world needs to make more use of this system. Our first choice
should be mediation, not the courts; the mediation is a system that both sides
have benefited from and which has protected their rights.”
