TOBB President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu spoke at the Tax Record Holders Awards Ceremony organized by the Devrek Chamber of Commerce and Industry and emphasized that Devrek does not have an Organized Industrial Zone despite being an industrial city and that the problem of land for OIZs is the purview of Science and Technology Minister Faruk Özlü and that he would personally speak with him in the evening.
Hisarcıklıoğlu stated that
the chambers have undertaken revolutionary works.
Hisarcıklıoğlu stated
that efforts to improvement the highway connecting Devrek to important centers
such as Ankara and Istanbul are still yet to be completed resulting in increases
transportation costs.
Hisarcıklıoğlu stated that
there are also positive developments in Devrek, “The natural gas ordeal is
finally finished. Air pollution for Devrek was an important issue, I hope this
is over.”
Stating that he is
proud of Devrek CCI’s work, the TOBB President pointed out that Devrek CCI is a
5 star Accredited Chamber, “We have a star system that measures the service
quality of our chambers just like hotels. We have to compete in the quality of the
service of our chambers to their members. We will attain the standard of the quality
of service like those in Paris, Berlin and London. We will be on the same
standard. Devrek is today at the same level as Paris, London and Berlin.”

Devrek Chamber of
Commerce and Industry Chairman Ertan Civak also gave information about the
district economy. Pointing out the absence of an OIZ in Devrek, Civak stated
that this is important for the development of the county, and that they will continue
to work on this as a chamber.
Ertan Civak requested
support from Hisarcıklıoğlu for a sectoral incentive system that will develop
the cities instead of provincial incentives.
