TOBB President and EUROCHAMBRES Deputy Chairman M. Rifat Hisarciklioglu discussed protectionism and anti-globalization at the meeting of EUROCHAMBRES Joint Members Committee in Moscow. Hisarcıklıoğlu emphasized the necessity of updating the Turkey-EU Customs Union agreement.

and hosted by Sergey Katyrin, President of Russian Federation Chamber of
Commerce and Industry; EUROCHAMBRES President Richard Weber, EUROCHAMBRES CEO
Arnaldo Abruzzini as well as the Chamber Union representatives from Azerbaijan,
Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, Montenegro, Macedonia and Moldova.
The meeting focused on the world economy, developments in the European
Union, protectionism and anti-global trends. Assessments regarding what the European
business community could do in this regard were discussed. EU economic
sanctions on Russia were discussed.
Speaking at the opening of meeting, Hisarcıklıoğlu stressed the
importance of updating the EU integration process and especially the Turkey-EU
Customs Union. As a part of the meeting, 5 members of the board of directors
were elected to the Board of Directors of EUROCHAMBRES to represent non-EU
countries.
EUROCHAMBRES Presidential Council meeting will be held tomorrow in
Brussels. Hisarcıklıoğlu will also attend the meeting.
