TOBB President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu and Customs and Trade Minister Bülent Tüfenkci attended the opening ceremony of the Kapıkule Customs Gate Passenger Lounge. At the opening ceremony, chambers and commodity exchanges of nearby provinces and cities, a large number of business people, bureaucrats and officials were in attendance.
Minister Tüfenkci, who cut the opening ribbon with TOBB President
Hisarcıklıoğlu, emphasized that the objective is to reduce costs, eliminate
paperwork, and reduce the duration of the transport to reach the final
destination as soon as possible in regards to all customs procedures.
Reporting that Kapıkule is Turkey's largest and busiest customs gate,
Minister Tüfenkci said, “For this reason, we continue to invest in Kapikule. We
want the process of the passengers coming and going from Kapıkule, one of the
most important gateways of Turkey, to be completed in a very short time and in
comfort. The passengers here are our guests. Two passenger lounges were built
in the 700m2 area for the passengers at the customs gate of Kapıkule, so that
passport and inspection procedures can be done in better and more comfortable
conditions. These passenger lounges were completed in as little as 4 months. The
effectiveness of the customs controls will be further enhanced. Our passenger
lounges were designed in such a way that they could meet all of our guests'
needs. Together with the new passenger halls equipped with the latest
technology, the operations of people who come to our country will be completed
in the most efficient way by eliminating wait times.”
Hisarcıklıoğlu and Tüfenkci later toured Kapıkule and received
information from the officials.
