Turkey Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges (TOBB) President and the European Union of Chambers of Commerce and Industry (EUROCHAMBRES) Vice President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu and his accompanying delegation held talks in the Egyptian capital Cairo.
Hisarcıklıoğlu, in Cairo, Egypt, to attend the 3rd Investment
Conference on the invitation of the Federation of Egyptian Trade Chambers,
expressed his gratitude to the Chairman of the Federation of Egyptian Trade
Chambers Ahmed al-Wakil for organizing a successful forum in his address at the
opening of the conference as Vice President of EUROCHAMBRES.
Saying that EUROCHAMBRES is the voice of 20 million establishments in
Europe with 45 member countries, Hisarcıklıoğlu stated that EUROCHAMBRES
supports SMEs and doing business abroad.
Hisarcıklıoğlu said that they have developed a lot of tools to give
information to entrepreneurs and SMEs, that they also support business
relations and that they are cooperating with the national chambers; they are
ready to explore ways to improve relations with neighboring regions in the
Mediterranean and Africa.
Hisarcıklıoğlu, who provided information about TOBB, expressed that TOBB
is an umbrella organization of the Turkish business world and represents 1.5
million companies.

increased 40 times over the last 15 years
Stating that they have developed very close relations with the
Federation of Egyptian Chambers, Hisarcıklıoğlu continued his speech:
“I know that the Egyptian private sector is very lucky and are well
represented in Ahmed al-Wakil leadership. Our bilateral trade with Egypt has incrased
by 15 times in the last 15 years. Today, Turkey is Egypt's fourth largest trading
partner. Turkish investments in this period in Egypt has incrased by 40 times,
reaching a volume of 2 billion USD.”
Hisarcıklıoğlu stated that they closely followed the Egyptian economy
and appreciated the successful IMF program and the economic transformation
process. He said that Egypt is in the middle of transportation routes, that
there are trade agreements with Africa, Europe and America and that there is a
favorable environment for investment. they will continue to do.
- "Without peace, prosperity
remains an illusion"
Hisarcıklıoğlu said that the world is facing big common threats and
challenges and that everyone is aware of it. “Peace is a prerequisite for
economic and social development, as I always said: Peace and trade are wealth. These
three are strongly related to each other. Without peace, prosperity remains an
illusion.”
Hisarcıklıoğlu stated that they had to focus on important issues and
said:
“The second is demographic change and youth unemployment. We can face
more social and economic problems if we do not create new jobs for youth in this
region. The last one is entrepreneurship; especially Egyptian women
entrepreneurs need to be encouraged and we are ready to transfer experience to
Egypt.”
