TOBB President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu, President of the Republic of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım attended the Project Based Incentive System Promotion Meeting held at the Beştepe National Culture and Convention Center.
Speaking at the ceremony, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan expressed his
hope that incentives would prove beneficial for all.
Erdoğan, extending his gratitude to company owners and managers for
their contributions to Turkey's growth and to its progress toward its goals, “Twenty-three
projects and 19 company incentives doesn’t sound very impressive but when you
take into consideration that the volume is 135 billion TRY, the scale of it
become apparent. This has resulted in the creation of 34,111 direct and 134,000
indirect jobs. These investments have contributed 6.318 billion USD exports,
while imports were reduced by 12.312 billion USD, so we'll see an improvement
of 19 billion USD in our current account deficit, which reached 47 billion USD
last year.”
Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım said that Turkey is one of the few
countries in Europe and the world able to maintain its growth trend for as long
as it has.
Until 2001, Turkey's was only able to draw in foreign direct investment
of 15.1 billion USD, reported Yıldırım and said, “During the last 16 years, direct
foreign investment has reached 191 billion USD. Surpassing in 16 years what was
accomplished in 80 years before. I want this truth to be apparent to everyone.”
