Curses and insults can’t be democratic rights.

05.06.2013 Ankara

In a press release by the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey, it was stated that, “It is the most natural right of our citizens for them to be expressing their demands inside the framework of law.”

The press release is as follows:

It is the most natural right of our citizens for them to be expressing their demands inside the framework of law. However, we have observed to our sadness that in recent days, attempts to deviate the demonstrations away from their original goals have been on the rise.

To speak plainly, insults and curses against the prime minister, his family, our parliament, institutions or the different factions of society are not a democratic right.

Those who use such expressions and prepare banners and signs which correspond with no ethical mores; which trample our national and moral values underfoot should refrain from this type of attitude.
