Following the Turkey-TRNC Economic Relations meeting, TOBB President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu and his accompanying delegation, visited the Turkish Cypriot Chamber of Industry Chairman Candan Avunduk, TRNC Prime Minister Flood Erhür financing, Turkish Cypriot leader Mustafa Akıncı and Turkish Cypriot Parliament Speaker Teberrüken Ulucay.
Turkish Cypriot Prime Minister Tufan Erhürman stated that they wanted
the Cyprus problem to be resolved as soon as possible and expressed that
socioeconomic development should be carried forwar, with or without a
resolution.
Erhürman stated that they put great importance to the issue of
development as a government, stated that progress was made in the island
compared to 1974, but that the desired point has not been reached.
Pointing out that the business union between TCCC and TOBB is important
in terms of planning socio-economic development, attracting quality and right
investment to the country, Erhürman said that this cooperation is a very
important step between the two countries.
In his speech, TOBB President Hisarcıklıoğlu stated that they are ready
to give their support in this context that it is important for the Turkish
Cypriot economy to remain strong in the ongoing solution process in Cyprus,
“The stronger Cyprus is, the stronger we all are.”
The delegation accompanying TOBB President Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu was
comprised of HAK Trade Unions Confederation (Hak-İş) President Mahmut Arslan, Public
Servants Syndicates Confederation (Memur-Sen) Chairman Ali Yalcin, Turkey
Tradesmen and Artisans Confederation (TESK) Chairman Bendevi Palandöken, Turkey
Confederation of Trade Unions (TURK-IS) President Ergun Atalay, Turkey
Confederation of Employer Associations (TISK) Executive Board Member Erhan
Polat, Turkey Public workers Unions Confederation (Turkey Kamu-Sen) President
Önder Kahveci which make up the EU - Turkey Joint Consultative Committee (JCC) Turkey
Wing as well as TOBB Board Treasurer Faik Yavuz and TEPAV Director Prof. Dr.
Güven Sak went to Nicosia upon the invitation of the Turkish Cypriot Chamber of
Commerce.
