At the meeting of Turkey High Education Assembly, the problems of private universities was discussed and the need for a new law for private universities was emphasized.

Assembly members agreed on that current High Education Law can not meet the needs of private universities, private universities are on the one side financially autonomous, on the other side it is bound by the High Education Law, so it causes some problems in implementation. The president of the Assembly, Bekir OKAN, expressed that there are two ways to solve these problems; to change the High Education Law and to prepare a new law for private universities.  At the meeting it was also stated - The obligatory scholarship which is %10 for each department, make the situation worse for the universities so it has to be reduced or set as %10 for university not for department, so university administration could decide on the ration of the scholarship for the departments. - Private universities are not represented in the Council of High Education, there has to be representatives of private universities in the council.- The foreign students can be an alternative for filling the quatos of departments especially after the events in Middle East.
