Russian Federation Tatarstan Autonomous Republic President Rustam Minnihanov met with the The Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB) President and Developing 8 Countries (D-8) Economic Cooperation Organization Chambers of Commerce and Industry President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu and the delegation accompanying him in Kazan to attend the 11th International Russia-Islamic World Economic Summit (Kazan Summit 2019).
In
his speech at the meeting, Hisarcıklıoğlu emphasized the importance of Tatarstan's
relationship with investors for Turkish companies and said, “When Turkish
investors choose a platform for the implementation of their projects, they make
Tatarstan as a priority.”
President
Minnihanov said, “In the framework of Russia-Turkey relations, we attach great
importance to the strengthening of cooperation with our Turkish partners.”
Expressing
Tatarstan’s desire to create an effective link between Russia and Turkey,
Minnihanov stated that visits from Turkey of senior officials, chief among them
the President of the Republic of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and business community
representatives to Kazan bring considerable momentum to development of relationships.
Minnihanov
said, “There are cooperation agreements between Tatarstan and Turkey. Turkey has
a Consulate General in Kazan. Our representative office in Istanbul is running
successfully. It's not just in our capital, we have agreements with 17 paired municipalities.”
Drawing
attention to direct airline connections between Turkey and Tatarstan, Minnihanov
stated that this strengthens tourism and improves ties in the business world.
Stressing
that they put great value on the cooperation between the two countries, Minnihanov
said, “Turkey is the largest investor in Tatarstan's economy.”
Minnihanov
stated that there is mutual cooperation between Tatarstan and Turkey in all
fields, especially in energy, petrochemicals, construction, education, sports.

President Hisarcıklıoğlu and the delegation accompanying him were received by
Tatarstan Deputy Prime Minister Vasil Shaikhraziev. Prior to his meeting with Tatarstan
President Minnihanov, Hisarcıklıoğlu met with Tatarstan Chamber of Commerce President
Shamil Ageyev.
Hisarcıklıoğlu
and his retinue visited the Federal University of Kazan, the PSJC
Kazanorgsintez Chemical Plant, the University of Innopolis and the Tatarstan
Investment Promotion Agency. He also met with entrepreneurs from Tatarstan who
attended the Turkish Speaking Entrepreneurs Program.
