The First Caspian Economic Forum was leaded by President of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov and attended by Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev, Azerbaijani Prime Minister Nowruz Mammadov, Kazakhstan Prime Minister Askar Mamin, First Vice President of Iran Ihsan Cihangir, Turkish Chambers and Commodity Exchanges (TOBB) President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu.
Berdimuhammedov stated that the position of the Caspian Sea and
economic relations between the countries on the Caspian coast should be
improved in his opening speech.
Gurbanguli Berdimuhammedov, mentioning the importance of peaceful
stability and cooperation in the region where the Caspian Sea is located, said
"Therefore, the Caspian Region will become one of the important centers of
international trade in terms of sectors such as energy, technology,
transportation and logistics."

TOBB President Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu said that the Caspian has an
important position in his assessment.
Hisarcıklıoğlu, saying "The Caspian Sea is the most important
transit point between China and Europe", stated that "Turkmenistan
will be the shining star of this region in the future."
Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu, underlining that many Turkish companies are doing
important works in Turkmenistan, said "Turkish companies in Turkmenistan
are not only building hotels and constructions but also turnkey facilities. The
most modern port of the region was built by a Turkish company in Avaza. We
visited it and we are proud of it. It has been an excellent facility."
TOBB President Hisarcıklıoğlu met with the Deputy Chairman of the
Council of Ministers of Turkmenistan, Çağrı Kilochov, during the Caspian
Economic Forum. Hisarcıklıoğlu has given a greeting plaque to Kurban Nazarov,
the President of the Turkmenistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, who
organized the Forum.
Hisarcıklıoğlu, who was in Avaza Region of Turkmenistan for the Caspian
Economic Forum, visited the International Port of Turkmenbashi built by Çalık
Holding before the Forum.
