Speaking at the consultative meeting jointly organized by the İskenderun Chamber of Commerce and Commodity Exchange, the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB) President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu stated that the Hassa -Dörtyol Tunnel will revive in the commercial district of the Silk Road, “This tunnel just will not save money for Iskenderun; it will be the gateway to the world for Diyarbakır, Gaziantep Adıyaman and the entire region. Remember, if the opinion leaders of the city act together and together, there is success in that city.”
Stating
that he is attending the consultation meeting to listen to the wishes and
troubles of the region’s business community, Hisarcıklıoğlu congratulated
everyone on the October 29th Republic Day at the beginning of the
meeting. Hisarcıklıoğlu said, “We commemorate Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and
his comrades in arms with the utmost gratitude. We have expressed everywhere
that we stand with our government in Operation Peace Spring. We’ve visited our
political party leaders. We sent letters to our interlocutors in 190 countries
and explained why the operation was carried out.
- Going through difficult times
Stating
that, “Iskenderun is the gateway to export to the Mediterranean today,” TOBB
President pointed out that the city is a very important place for Gaziantep and
all the surrounding provinces. Hisarcıklıoğlu said that the country is going
through a difficult period, but despite such negativity, it is expected that
growth of close to 1% is expected at the end of the year and that this should
not be underestimated. Hisarcıklıoğlu, “Hopefully we will grow 5% next year.”
Hisarcıklıoğlu
stated that most complaints were regarding the banks in the last 1 year and
said, “With the initiative of the government, public banks came into play. They
cut interest rates a little. Credit started again. Hopefully, there will be an
employment-oriented incentive package in the near future.” The TOBB President,
who also provided information about the arrangements implemented in line with their
demands, listing them as: “POS machines, checks and promissory notes
collection, electronic checks will be put into effect, commercial receivables
insurance, public receivables, vocational training, product specialization
exchange, professional qualification certificate, credit guarantee fund,
mediation and arbitration.”

Hakkı Yılmaz, the Iskenderun CCI President, pointed out that the dynamics in
the globalizing world are changing day by day, “As the business world we must
also develop business models which take these changes into account. We must
produce technology in our country. Trust in the economy is not yet at the
desired level. We cannot reach high growth without eliminating the reasons
behind the troubles.” İskenderun Commodity Exchange President Ahmet Ozan Kara
pointed out that Hatay is a city where different cultures live together and
gave information about the city's potential.

the city during his program in İskenderun Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

with them.
