Speaking at the panel organized within the scope of the 6th Milas Olive Harvest Festival, the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB) President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu pointed out that olives and olive oil are an important value for the region, “You must focus on branding in order to grow the value of the goods you produce. Acquire your geographic markers,” he urged. Hisarcıklıoğlu also visited the stands at the festival and received information about the products.

President Hisarcıklıoğlu took part in the Olive Panel held in Milas festival area
with the participation of Muğla Governor Esengül Civelek and the dignitaries of
the province and chamber and commodity exchange presidents. Hisarciklıoğlu emphasized the importance he
attaches to the promotion of olives and olive oil in his speech here, “You are
introducing olives here and developing the culture of olive oil usage,” he
said. Hisarcıklıoğlu emphasized that the consumption of olive oil per capita
should be increased, and said that if the consumption of olive oil per capita
is increased to 5 liters, everyone will win. M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu emphasized
the need to open up to the world, stressing that the way to do this is through
branding.

stated that the geographical markers are the first step in branding, “Geographical
markers are important for increasing the value of your product. We have 230
kinds of cheese; we make $200 million. Others are making billions of dollars
with just one type of cheese.”

products, “2 years ago, the President Reşit promised to acquire geographical markers.
Today I see he has kept his promise and I congratulate him.”

quality olive oil, Hisarcıklıoğlu noted that many companies from Milas have won
awards in the field of olive oil.
