Through the cooperation of the Turkish Standards Institute (TSE) and the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB), a database was created to increase the participation of the private sector in standardization and provide human resources to mirror committees operating within the TSE.
Minister
of Industry and Technology Mustafa Varank, TOBB President M. Rifat
Hisarcıklıoğlu and TSE President Prof. Dr. Adem Şahin invited all interested
parties to participate in this database.
Hisarcıklıoğlu
and Şahin, in order to raise awareness about standardization, as TSE and TOBB,
stated that they could not find sufficient human resources in the work carried
out focusing on businesses, and stressed that they took action to create an
infrastructure based on this.
Minister
of Industry and Technology Mustafa Varank, in his assessment, urged industrialists,
academicians and all interested parties to participate in the work of the
mirror committees established within the TSE.
Varank
reminded that the main task of these committees is to monitor and direct the
work done in organizations which set international standards.
- “Everyone must do their part”
Minister
Varank, stating that manufacturers must also do their part in this regard,
stating, “For the setting of standards, the voice manufacturers who are in the
manufacturing process themselves, who turn the wheels, should be heard and
heeded, not experts who sit behind a table without knowing the sector.”
Varank
pointed out that they have taken the vision of being a country with a say in
the global market to a higher level with the cooperation protocol signed
between the Turkish Standards Institute (TSE) and the Union of Chambers and Commodity
Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB), thus taking an important step for the effective
participation of industrialists and trade people in international
standardization activities.
- Training program
Those
who want to participate in the training program created to provide human
resources on an important issues such as standardization must first register
with the standardization database prepared by TSE and TOBB, which can be
accessed through http://std.tobb.org.tr.
After
the trainings are completed, national technical (mirror) committee meetings
will be held. The main goal here will be to send representatives to
international technical committees.
The
trainings were prepared for senior managers, engineers or technical personnel
who have at least 70 points in ÜDS, KPDS, YDS or equivalent in other foreign
language exams (TOEFL, IELTS, etc.), who are trained in standards in their
field, are preferably experienced in R&D, design, quality, control and
production, and if possible, have previously taken up a position in
standardization.
