- President Erdoğan
The
President of the Republic of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, speaking at the
program, said, “When we came to office, we placed education at the top of our
priorities. For many years, the education budget topped state spending. We have
strengthened the education infrastructure and human capital of our country at
every stage from primary school to higher education.”
Noting
that more than 18 million students in Turkey receive educational services in
educational institutions numbering almost 70,000, Erdoğan said, “With special
educational institutions and other educational units, this number rises to
86,000. In addition, the Ministry of National Education needs 13,000 new
schools with 21,000 classrooms. In addition, some of the existing schools need
to be strengthened against earthquakes.”
