The Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB) President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu issued a message of celebration on the occasion of June 3rd World Fairs Day.
Hisarcıklıoğlu
said in his message:
“We
have once again seen that our fairs sector, which is one of the sectors most
affected by Covid-19 pandemic, is vital to our economy.
The
fairs sector plays a vital role in turning production into sales and growing the
economy.
Our
fairs sector, where thousands of people are employed, also makes a very
important contribution in the fight against unemployment. In addition, fairs
contribute positively to many different sectors of the cities where they are
held, such as tourism, hospitality, transportation, catering, logistics.
Pandemics
have put many components in the fairs sector in danger, and all fairs between
16 March and 1 July have been postponed due to the negative conditions
experienced. I believe that our fairs sector, which has been affected by the
protection measures taken during this period, will return to its old days as
soon as possible with the support of our State and the initiatives of our
Union.
We
expect that the pandemic will bring a new order for fairs as well as in every
sector. Whatever the next new order, fairs will not lose their role in the
development of the economy. With the
resumption of fairs, economic life will surely be improved.
I
strongly agree with the ‘Fairs are the key to restructuring the economy’ main
theme for this year determined by the International Fairs Association and I
believe that this message should be adopted as the main strategy in the process
of normalization after pandemic.
With
these thoughts, I celebrate the World Fair Day of the fair companies in our
country working for the development of the fairs industry in Turkey.”
