The Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB) President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu celebrated the Insurance Week, which spans the week of September 7-11 this year due to COVID-19 epidemic measures.
Hisarcıklıoğlu said in his message:
"In the world economy, one of the most
important indicators of the development indexes of countries is the size of the
insurance sector. Turkey has a growing economy based on the private sector. In
order for the private sector to develop or grow in a real way in our country,
financial assets and commercial risks in our country must be insured. This
year, the significance of global risks was made clear with the Covid-19 pandemic.
During this difficult fight, job losses are experienced in every sector. In
this era, where the number and diversity of the risks we face is increasing day
by day, a strong insurance sector is needed for effective risk management. A
strong insurance sector is the formula for stable economic development.
In this context, important steps have been
taken in our country on behalf of the insurance sector in recent years. The
establishment of the Insurance and Private Pension Regulation and Supervision
Authority, the establishment of Turkish Reinsurance Inc., credit insurance,
bail insurance and new regulations in the Individual Pension System are
important examples of these. The positive impact of these arrangements and
practices has been felt strongly in the sector and in the country's economy.
The agencies and appraisers organized under the
umbrella of our Union make significant contributions to the healthy development
of the insurance sector in Turkey. Insurance agencies in the spread of
insurance to the base and thus increase the insured rate in our country; in the
event of determining risks and ensuring justice between insurance companies and
insurers in the event of damage, appraisers have a large share. We provide all
kinds of support as the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey to
ensure that members of both professions can look to the future more safely and
contribute more to the sector.
With these feelings and thoughts, I wish to
congratulate all stakeholders and employees working in the entire business
world and the sector, especially insurance agencies and insurance appraisers
organized by TOBB, with my sincerest wishes."
