The foundation of the 24-classroom school to be built by the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB) in Ürgüp district of Nevşehir was laid with ceremony. TOBB President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu, Nevşehir Governor İnci Sezer Becel, EU Delegation to Turkey Ambassador Nikolaus Meyer-Landrut, Deputies, Mayors, Chamber/Commodity Exchange Presidents attended the ceremony.
TOBB President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu, who
examined the excavation work at the construction site, told reporters that the
construction is aimed to be completed in the last month of 2021, adding, “As
the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey, we had the 81 schools
in 81 provinces projects. In this context, our friends wanted a school for Ürgüp.
We have laid the foundation for this school, and at the end of the year,
hopefully we will open it together.”
Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony of the
school to be built in the Evka neighborhood as part of TOBB's “81 Vocational
High Schools in 81 Provinces” project, Nevşehir Governor İnci Sezer Becel noted
that approximately 61,000 students were educated in the city, “Of these, 38,000
secondary and high school students. The fact that new schools will be attended
by our students, which are the guarantee of our future, is one of the most
important investments we can make as a country. The share allocated to
education in the activities carried out by TOBB is an unimpressed one. We hope
the school will bring many benefits to Ürgüp.”
Ambassador Nikolaus Meyer-Landrut, head of the
European Union (EU) Delegation to Turkey, who participated in the programmed,
said in his speech that the highest level of investment is the work done in the
field of education and that they appreciate TOBB's practices in this field.
The ceremony ended with the presentation of
gifts to the participants.
