The Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB) President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu attended the TOBB Turkey Garment and Apparel Council meeting. Hisarcıklıoğlu, listening to the opinions and suggestions of the sector representatives together with TOBB Board Member Zeki Kıvanç and Sector Council President Onur Fayat, specifically mentioned the experiences of the sector during the pandemic.
Pointing
out that the sector has had a difficult period with the closure of export
markets and restrictions, especially in Europe, Hisarcıklıoğlu stated that it
is important for the apparel sector to close the year with over 17 billion
dollars of exports despite this negative picture and to catch up with 2019.
Noting
that the dynamic structure and adaptability of the sector is the greatest
advantage in this difficult period, TOBB President said, “For all these
reasons, I think that everyone should know and see the value of our apparel and
apparel sector for our country. As TOBB, we acted as a bridge between the
business world and the government during this troubled period. We have compiled
your problems and demands on the ground and communicated them one-on-one to our
relevant Ministers.”
The
meeting, held closed to the press, saw an exchange of views on the expectations
of the sector.
