The Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB) President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu said that as a business community, they see the Paris Agreement as the basis for green transformation and green development, and that ratification of the agreement is a touchstone of the goal of leaving a greener world for future generations.
Hisarcıklıoğlu said in
a statement:
“The Paris Climate
Agreement, which we attach strategic importance to as the Turkish business
community, was published in the Official Gazette on October 7th and
approved by Turkey.
We would like to thank
our President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and the Turkish Parliament for enabling our
country to become a party to the Paris Climate Agreement.
As a business
community, we see the Paris Agreement as the basis for green transformation and
green development.
With this
understanding, we must fight the climate crisis by joining hands with the
public-private sector by protecting our natural resources.
With the support of the
public, we should reduce carbon emissions, meet the zero waste target, adopt
sustainable and green production, and prefer renewable energy sources.
In this context, we
believe it is important that the roadmap and action plans are identified and
implemented in public-private cooperation.
We aim to leave a
greener world for future generations with the goal of green transformation and
green development.”
